I was excited when this wok was offered having very much enjoyed the Souped Up Recipes channel. Her style is straightforward but there's a lot of good science in there if you listen which told me she knows what she's talking about and also knows quality. The actual wok is beautiful, and is a great size for smaller portions. This will fit nicely into my collection with my 14" and 20" woks. I love the hammered finish as well, I can pretend I'm using a wok like they hand made 1000 years ago (I think these patterns are machine printed rather than hand hammered, but it's still gorgeous). I have a strong outside burner that I use for wok cooking so I chose to use that for seasoning rather than the oven. I first scrubbed as instructed then used high heat to burn off any residual coating. If you hold the wok over high heat, it will first speckle up with small black spots everywhere, but those eventually burn away to leave a smooth gun metal color like finish. I let the wok cool then applied the first coating of oil evenly on the interior and cranked up the heat. It will turn brown at first and smoke heavily but then the smoke recedes and it's ready to cool off. I repeated this process 3 more times and the result is in the photo, a beautiful glossy solid black cooking surface. I finished the seasoning off by dry frying some chopped green onions, having read somewhere that this can remove any residual metal taste from a new wok. I'm quite pleased with the purchase and the price I got as an early adopter, can't wait to cook my first meal. Also to the reviewer who was nervous about a wooden handle on a gas stove, don't be. My outdoor burner gets up to 100K BTUs and it wasn't a problem.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  Great Wok! …. And getting Better!

I have had this wok for a while now and I love it! It was great when I first got it and it is just getting better as I use it. When I got it I viewed Mandy’s included YouTube video on how to season my new wok. I followed her very detailed instructions on how to season it and have been following her instructions on how to continue to care for it. It is getting more nonstick the older it gets. I always clean the wok after use with hot water and then heat it some to dry it completely and then wipe the inside with some solid vegetable shortening, like Crisco, and then heat it again to “burn” off the shortening. This is the same technique that works well to keep my cast iron pans in great shape. This wok is well built. It is the right weight to balance handling and heat retention. The carbon steel conducts heat very well. It heats evenly and holds the heat well when food is added to it. The flat bottom is just the right size to sit stably on the stove while still keeping the benefits of a round sided wok. The hammered design on the inside helps keep food up on the side while adding and cooking other ingredients. It is much easier to use than my old round bottom wok on the stove. I love this wok, it is absolutely gorgeous. I have followed all the easy to follow instructions, it is seasoned and ready to go! Love the wooden lid & spatula. I believe this wok will definitely be with us a long time. My new everything cooking tool. Making lo mein as we speak!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  Excellent wok. 6 stars out of 5!

I've just received this and only used it once. I made sure to carefully read and follow the instructions for initial cleaning and seasoning. First thing I made was shrimp fried rice and I'd steamed the rice from the day before, so it was a bit wetter than usual. I did get a little sticking, but only a little, and it easily cleaned off with water and a soft nylon scrubber. Very good price on the wok. You must check out the YouTube channel for her recipes and demonstrations. Easy to follow. Plenty of links to Amazon for ingredients that might be hard to find in some areas.
